כשהייתי ילד, בטלויזיה היה רק ערוץ 1 ישראלי, ואז התווסף ערוץ 2 שהחל בשידורי נסיון של וידאו קליפים.
אחד מהקליפים ששודרו שם היה השיר הזה, שריגש אותי כל כך.
בקליפ, מורה (ליונל ריצ׳י) מתאהב בתלמידה עיוורת שלו. אך הוא לא יודע איך לומר לה את זה.
(היום זה היה נגמר אחרת… 😅)
עד שבסוף השיר מסתבר שגם היא מאוהבת בו כשהיא קוראת לו ומראה לו פסל שהיא יצרה בדמותו,
עם כל התלתלים שמאפיינים אותו.
האמת היא שהשיר נכתב בעקבות סיפור דומה.
כשליונל ריצ׳י היה צעיר, עברה לידו בחורה יפיפייה, אבל ליונל היה ביישן מידי בכדי לפתוח בשיחה איתה.
הוא חשב בראשו, ״הלו, האם אותי את מחפשת?״.
שנים מאוחר יותר החליט לכתוב על זה שיר, אך הוא לא הכניס אותו לאלבום הסולו הראשון שלו.
רק בזכות אשתו שהתעקשה, השיר נכנס לאלבום, והיה הצלחה היסטרית.
