ערב אחד כשג׳ון לנון שכב לצד אישתו הראשונה סינתיה היא דיברה ודיברה ללא סוף
וכל מה שג׳ון שמע זה רצף מילים אינסופי ללא משמעות שזורמות ומרחפות באוויר.
גם אחרי שהיא נרדמה, המילים המשיכו להדהד בראשו. הוא לקח נייר והחל לכתוב:
״מילים זורמות החוצה כמו גשם אינסופי לתוך כוס נייר
הם מחליקים בפראות כשהם חומקים על פני היקום.״
וואו, איזו כתיבה 😲 אין דברים כאלה.
המשך השיר מושפע מהתקופה שהביטלס ביקרו בהודו ונפגשו עם המהרישי לשלושה חודשי מדיטציה.
המילים שחוזרות בפזמון השיר הם ״Jai guru deva om״
והמשמעות שלהם היא ״הודו לגורו האלוהי״
ה- “ooohmm” בסוף המשפט משמש במדיטציה כדי להתייחס לרטט הטבעי של היקום.
ב 2008 השיר שודר על ידי נאס״א מהחלל לכיוון כוכב הצפון למרחק של 431 שנות אור מכדור הארץ,
כך שבאמת אפשר להגיד שהשיר בוצע מעבר ליקום
