כשגיטריסט הלהקה – רולנד – היה בן 19, החברה שלו עבדה בשלוש עבודות בו זמנית בזמן
שהוא ישב מובטל בבית וניגן על הגיטרה שלו בתקווה להיות כוכב יום אחד.
הוא היה יושב בביתו באנגליה ומביט מהחלון על מרכז העיר, על כל האנשים שיוצאים בבוקר לעבודה,
ממהרים לשום מקום. וכך בעצם נולד השיר.
באותה תקופה של שנות ה-80 הוא היה מנגן עם הלהקה שלו, כאשר החלו לצוץ כל מיני להקות
של שני אנשים, זמר וקלידן – כמו דפש מוד, ללא צורך במתופף, או בסיסט כי הכל נעשה על ידי הקלידים
במוזיקה אלקטרונית. וביחד עם קורט סמית׳ – סולן הלהקה, הם החליטו להיפטר משאר חברי הלהקה
ולהפוך לצמד.
את הקצב לשיר הם גנבו משיר של דוראן דוראן, ויצרו אותו עם הקלידים.
ב 2001 קאבר שקט ורגוע יותר של השיר בוצע בסרט ׳דוני דארקו׳ והקפיץ את השיר חזרה למקומות הראשונים במצעדים.
בתקופה כזאת שהעולם שלנו בהחלט משתגע, גם בארץ עם המהפכה המיותרת,
באוקריאנה עם המלחמה המיותרת, סין שמנסה לכבוש את טאיוואן ועוד, השיר אקטואלי מתמיד… 🌍
